Easy S’mores Dip Recipe

FotoJet (7)

One of the best summer treats are s’mores. They are perfect for camping, parties, or just hanging out at home in your pyjamas. Now that this summer has been partially ruined due to COVID-19, many of us are finding ourselves stuck at home rather than attending typical summer bonfires. Luckily, you don’t need a fire to make this tasty treat! This recipe is super easy and serves four people (or less — I won’t tell). All you need is some graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate chips, a cake pan, and a broiler.

FotoJet (5)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened chocolate chips
  • 250 grams of marshmallows (approximately 24 marshmallows)
  • 1 box of graham crackers or graham wafers

Directions:

  1. Turn broiler on high.
  2. Cover bottom of cake pan with chocolate chips. Spread evenly.
  3. Place marshmallows upright around cake pan until there are no visible gaps.
  4. Place into oven and broil for 3-5 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown. The time can be adjusted depending on your broiler, but don’t leave it in for too long or your marshmallows will burn.
  5. Dip using graham crackers and enjoy!

Summertime Themed Sugar Cookies Recipe

This summer has been scorching hot. If you find yourself too busy to head down to the beach, try baking some beachy summertime themed sugar cookies instead! Tip: If you have different shaped cookie cutters, be sure to use them and incorporate them into your summery treats.

tumblr_na3a3jaFV21qkgblgo1_500

Ingredients (For Cookies):

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Cookie cutters (optional)

Ingredients (For Icing):

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp meringue powder
  • 3 tbsp water
  • Assorted food colours

Directions For Sugar Cookies:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. With either an electric hand mixer or stand mixer, combine the butter and sugar and mix for two minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Scrape the sides and add your egg and vanilla. Finally, add the flour and baking powder.
  4. Keep mixing until all ingredients are well mixed into the dough. The dough may have a dry appearance but still continue to mix. You may add water if you find it becoming too dry in texture. The texture should be that of Play-Doh.
  5. Roll out sugar cookie dough to 1/4″ (0.6 cm) onto a lightly floured surface or cooking board. If using cookie cutters, begin to cut out the desired shapes of your dough.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until cookies turn golden brown.

Directions For Icing: (Credit: Good Housekeeping)

  1. In a bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until blended. Scrape side of bowl with rubber spatula. Increase speed to medium―beat until soft peaks form, about 10 minutes. Icing should be stiff enough to hold its shape when piped. Thin with more water, if needed.
  2. Tint icing with food colouring as desired―keep surface covered with plastic wrap to prevent drying out.

Making Your Summertime Themed Sugar Cookies:

Once your cookies are done baking, sprinkle a bit of sugar on them if desired. Then using your icing, you can let your creativity run wild and create anything you wish. This can include a beach, flip-flops, sunglasses, pineapples―literally anything you can think of!

Enjoy! Be sure to stay cool out there in this heat. XOXO

Meeting the Rock-afire Explosion

Hello, as promised I am back from Orlando, Florida to tell you about my time and also post pictures of animatronics and stuff like that. Thus far I have two videos on my channel regarding my trip, but fear not because there are plenty more to come. I just have to edit them and stuff. We had a lot more footage; Jacob accidentally deleted it and we are also recovering a lot of footage that was corrupted. (Thank God for file recovery programs.) I shall post the videos below:

The hotel was extremely fancy, we didn’t know but it was like a five star hotel and the only people that were there were: rich old people, young girls with their sugar daddies, and twenty year old whinny girls whose rich parents bought them a vacation. So yeah, not one person was nice there. People in Detroit were so much nicer than people in downtown Orlando. It was still a nice place to stay, though, even though 9/10 people were stuck up.

Downtown Orlando is a scary place. People always tell you that Florida inhabits nice old retired couples and families on vacation. But the truth of Orlando is very far from that. It’s like the city of party animals. (At least the downtown area is). Seriously, there’s clubs and bars and cigar shops and that’s pretty much it. Help.

We went to this burger place and the guys working there looked so creepy that I actually didn’t even order anything (though I did eat off of Jacob’s plate . . . because I was that hungry, okay?!)

Putting all of that aside, let’s just focus on the main reason why we travelled down there in the first place: (and FYI, the weather in Orlando was the exact same weather that we have during the summertime here in Canada. There was literally no difference.) TO SEE THE ROCK-AFIRE EXPLOSION! And it was amazing. If you ask me what my fave part of the entire experience was (other than my skit), well, here you go:

I’m obsessed with the Wolf Pack 5, which is the band that came before the Rock-afire Explosion. The lead female vocalist, Mini Mozzarella, is my all time favourite. She may even be my favourite animatronic, period. She’s cute, gorgeous, beautiful, sweet . . . The list could go on and on. But they were being sold, a video was put up in March about them being dragged out from their crates that they lived in since 1980. It was a sad moment for me, knowing that they were going to be sold and I wouldn’t get to see Mini at my tour. “If only we had gone months earlier.” I had told Jacob. “She’s not going to be there . . . why would Aaron sell them?!” I had said. She was my fave, and I wouldn’t get to meet her, and that was a devastating thing for me. So on August 14, it was a cold rainy day in Orlando. We walk into Creative Engineering, and what’s the very first thing that I see? MINI FUCKING MOZZARELLA. (Excuse my language. It was just a very happy time for me.) Of course I fanned my face excitedly, ran over to her and grabbed some pics. It’s an awkward moment when a robotic mouse is much hotter than you are. And she was naked, but that was okay. But still, I got to see her and the rest of the WP5! That was good luck on me, because they were supposed to be sold back in June but the guy that bought them got arrested. So, score.

Summer Hauls and More

summer-clothing-haul

You know, I’ve never really understood of the point in making videos of hauls and stuff, but then I started watching them and it grew on me. Not only are they fun to watch, but it’s also almost like watching a commercial for all the stuff you’re interested in along with a review by someone who’s not an actress. Therefore, I figured since I do that YouTube thing now, it’d be cool to make some of my own.

Here are some of the brands featured in my summer clothing haul and make up video:

STORES/BRANDS FEATURED:
♡ American Eagle by Payless ♡
♡ Bella Marie by Kozmo ♡

I Went To Prom

FullSizeRender (20)

I know, weird, right? I originally wasn’t going to, but then I thought, I have a boyfriend so it could be fun, also I haven’t seen my friends in a while, plus it’s always nice to dress up for a change. The prom was Friday, June 5 and here I am on the Tuesday scrummaging around. So days before the prom, I contacted the teacher in charge and thankfully she said she could get me a ticket (she said they stopped selling them weeks before and only would give me one because she liked me. See, it pays off to be a good student.) So three days before the prom, I’m rushing to book appointments, get my dress, my boyfriend’s rushing to get his tuxedo, etc. It was very exhausting.

The theme was “Starry Night” which I thought was pretty dumb and boring. Apparently they had a vote for the seniors of what theme they wanted, but since I was never physically in the building, I didn’t get to cast my vote. There were options like “Midnight in Paris”, “Masquerade”, and “Arabian Night”. Any of those would’ve been better than “Starry Night” but I guess it had like two more votes than “Masquerade”. Oh, well. I dealt.

For my boyfriend’s prom years ago, his theme was “Carnival” and they had a fancy hall downtown looking off the river with a light up dance floor and a cotton candy machine. To be honest, I would’ve rather had that.

As for the actual prom, it was okay. Standard. Like I thought it would be. Decent food, pretty crappy decorations, a bunch of pretty dresses, professional photographers and a cool unlimited photo booth with props. Since I was so late, I had to sit with people I wasn’t friends with, but that was fine, there was one kid who I liked there other than my boyfriend. Let’s just be thankful it wasn’t someone I hate. But the awards were all rigged. They were like, “Worst Driver”, “Cutest Couple”, etc. How would you know who’s the worst driver? You would have had to been with them driving, and you would’ve had to be with someone daily to know what they’re most likely to be like. It’s funny because everyone who won an award was either on the prom committee, or was the prom committee’s best friend. R-I-G-G-E-D.

We only stayed for three hours, we left an hour early to get to Baskin-Robbins before it closed. And it was worth it, too. Most people went to a drug filled after party in the middle of a trashy field where people got beat up and stuff for the fun of beating someone up. Hope you guys had fun when the cops came. Anyway, my graduation is tonight so hopefully I can go there again. I shall make it my end tradition for everything high school. In other words, I never have to go back to that torture chamber so let’s devour ourselves in sweet succulent iced cream.

I guess that’s a bit over dramatic considering for the past two years I was never actually in the building. But I just hate school in general so whatever. Man, for a pretty positive person this blog post today is really negative. Okay, let’s think of some positive things about prom now:

  • I had a great time with Jacob.
  • Everyone looked really nice.
  • I got to see my friends.
  • I had a lot of fun getting all prettyed up.
  • Now it’s time for graduation!

9 Things I Just Can’t Handle

fdsgfdgfh

Everyone has their little phobias and pet peeves and things they just cannot stand. Here are nine of mine. Originally, I was going to use pictures to go into further detail but I thought I’d be nice and spare everyone (mostly myself) the gruesomeness of having to see these things. What are some of yours?

  • Needles

There’s an actual thing called needle phobia. The scientific name for it is “trypanophobia”. Yes, it is a real thing. There’s a whole bunch of facts and statistics. Including, a large percentage of people with this would rather die than get a shot and also some people just have a fear with medical needles. I feel a lot more comfortable having a needle pierce through my nose (which I got done last year) than get a flu shot in my arm. Seriously, it’s bad. Those of you who have this know what I’m talking about.

  • Centipedes

NO, PLEASE, NOOO!!! Centipedes are ugly. And creepy. And weird. Ugh. No. Maybe my fear sprouted from waking up in the middle of the night when I was a kid and having a centipede casually walking right beside me. Yeah, I think I was scarred . . . I can’t even look at a picture of one without cringing and feeling things crawling all over me.

  • Raw Meat

When my mom was pregnant with my brother, she couldn’t stand seafood. He hates seafood. When my mom was pregnant with me, she couldn’t stand raw meat. And I absolutely despise it. I cannot cook meat because of this and probably never will. My husband will have to do it. Even looking at it makes me want to throw up. And as for steak? It has to be brown, well done, fully cooked. Any pink/red at all and I’ll gag.

  • Rude People

But, doesn’t everyone hate rude people? Wait, what about rude people? Do rude people hate rude people? How does that even work? The questions that keep me awake at night . . .

  • Sports

This one is pretty odd, but, I actually can’t stand sports. If I go to a hockey, baseball, or basketball game, I’m only there for that buzz of excitement in the air and the food. Mostly the food. I find them boring and I actually have a fear of soccer. I don’t know if it came from a bad experience or what, but I’ve always been scared of soccer and always will. *Shudders*.

  • Extremely Loud Noises

If it’s music I like, then no biggy. But if it’s music I hate, or any other loud noise, I immediately get a migraine and can’t focus and in certain situations depending on what it is and how loud it is, I can get really bitchy. So please don’t blow a horn in my ear at any given time or I may or may not attack you for it.

  • Redundant Romance Movies/Books

Blech. So annoying and corny. Yes, I do realize there’s some romance in Mackenzie High. But it’s not that kind of romance. Come on, people, do you really think Taylor and Lonny stare into each other’s eyes and say “I’d be lost without you?” Nu-uh.

  • Cigarettes

I have to hold my breath when I walk past someone smoking. The smell is gross, the action is gross, just everything.

  • Freezing Cold Weather

Which is odd because winter is my favorite season. (Because of Christmas, boots, cuddling next to the fireplace, hot cocoa, etc). And I LOVE my winter coat. But when I’m outside and it’s in the minuses, then no way. I’m outta there.

Have a good week everyone!

A Thank You Note To Coffee

photo 4 (1)

Dear Coffee:

Thank you for always being delicious. Thanks for always brightening my mood. Thanks for coming in many different flavours and types. Thank you for making me more perky in the morning, and more lively at night. Thank you for helping me with homework, while writing my book, and even while writing this blog. Thanks for being at a Starbucks so close to my house. Thank you for being a caramel, hazelnut, mocha, and salted caramel mocha frappucino. Oh, and thanks for being an iced cap at Tim Hortons. And that occasional double-double during cold days. Thanks for warming me up in the winter; thanks for cooling me down in the summer. Hey, thank you for being there even in spring and fall! I don’t care if you’re $1, or if you’re over $5. I will buy you Coffee, because we are meant to be together. Thanks for always looking pretty, and thanks for always bringing a smile onto my face. Thanks for giving me a nice place to sit down with friends to laugh while you’re there with us, making the times grow even better. Thank you for making me happy and never disappointing me. Even when you’re not in your best state, you still give me a little boost. Thanks for being all sorts of things . . . Bitter, sweet, salty. Coffee, even your plain self is delightful and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I love you Coffee in all of your forms! I couldn’t go a single day without your presence!

THANK YOU COFFEE!

Love,

September—Fall, Halloween, Food, Seasonal Clothes Shopping, Etc

tumblr_nba2ylxebO1rufs31o1_500

Listed above are only several of the things I love the most about the fall season. And there’s school, of course, although that may not be as cheerful for some. I hope you’re all doing great in whatever it is that you are pursing right now, whether that be high school, college, university, or in the workplace. Good luck everyone! 🙂

I’m praying that the warmth of the summer lasts a bit longer. We’ve had such a cold winter that I’m definitely not going to rush anything. I’d take the heat over coldness any day, but there’s just so many perks to the colder seasons! I LOVE Halloween, fall/winter clothes (too much, actually), hot chocolate, etc. But let’s hope that summer lasts at least another three weeks or so. I can wait.

HAPPY SEPTEMBER, MAKE IT COUNT!
